What to look for
The web had to viewed in profit and loss terms. Any service which was used to create a web presence, such as a hosting service and search engine optimization had to return a profit. It had to show up on the bottom line with positive numbers.
The web hosting service was a more or less fixed cost. The paid inclusion was another matter. In theory, all the clicks paid for should ultimately have some kind of discernable return. The return on investment is the basis for most expenditures in a business including web hosting and the non fixed costs. A business has to calculate what they pay for the clicks versus what is brought in.
The calculation is simple. The cost of web hosting, plus the total cost of clicks per month divided into total sales attributed to clicks. This will yield a cost per sale figure. If the cost is less than the profit, then the internet presence is valuable. Otherwise some adjustments need to be made. Web designers might have to redesign web sites.
In order to produce a viable internet or web strategy a company must have secure a web hosting service and a search engine strategy and register their own domain.
The pay per click dilemma is complicated by the fact that there is a "quality quotient" involved with the pay per click web infrastructure.
This includes using the "right" keywords that a web site can be found under. The keywords must be targeted get visitors and clicks that produce sales. It is possible to get a lot of visitors. If those visitors are not looking for what the web site is selling and the clicks have to be paid for, the result is not what is intended.
When selecting keywords to buy clicks for the web strategist must think in terms of "Less is more". It is likely that certain search terms will produce more sales and fewer clicks. This is ultimately how any pay per click service must be used.
Another complicating factor can be "slow" clicks. By this I mean that you are not getting the expected volume of clicks. Could it be your web hosting service? If the web site is up 24/7 then you must look elsewhere.
It is entirely possible to put your eggs in the wrong basket as the saying goes. There are pay per click services that work and there are pay per click services that just collect money.
It is not my place to point the finger at any of these services. However, I can tell you what to look out for. When you find the service that you think would help you, do NOT put a lot of money into it. They may be making web offers that sound really good. For them to be hosting your site on their search engine they also have to deliver. By "deliver" I mean clicks. If they are "slow" the click department then they do not have a lot of visitors.
There are quite a few of these out there. They may be offering a web hosting service for your search engine key word terms but can they deliver the clicks?
